Dr. Louise Myshak was born and raised
in rural Alberta. She studied Sciences at the University of Alberta
and obtained a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University
of Waterloo. While in Optometry School she was student-faculty
liaison, president of Beta Sigma Kappa (an international optometric
honor fraternity), research assistant for the Dean and clinical
supervisor on outreach projects.
Dr. Myshak has been practicing at Tutt Street Optometry Clinic
since 1988. She has served as councilor for the BC Association
of Optometrists, member of the Medical Services Plan Optometry
Special Committee, Registrar of the BC Board of Examiners and
member of the Canadian Examiners in Optometry. She has written
and reviewed items for the Canadian Standard Assessment in Optometry,
provided expert opinions and has given workshops on examination
techniques. She has also given lectures on a variety of topics
and was a regular guest on a radio talk show. Most recently,
she has worked with the BC Board of Examiners Quality Assurance
Committee as a facilitator for peer review circles and as an
assessor. She was part of the CNIB Low Vision clinic at Kelowna
General Hospital and has served on the Children's Low Vision
Project of BC since its inception in 2005.
On the lighter side, Louise is married with two children and
is actively involved in church activities. When she finds spare
moments, which are few, she loves to read and work up a sweat
in the garden.
