In the late 80’s, Dr. John Kemp and Dr. Grant Goods got together with a plan to better meet Kelowna’s eye care needs; they wanted to give patients access to both optometry and ophthalmology services in one location. So in 1989, British Columbia's first comprehensive eye care location opened its doors as the Kelowna Eye Care Centre.
In 1993, Dr. Greg Wallace became a partner, and the practice changed its name from Kemp, Goods and Associates to Tutt Street Optometry.
Since our inception, we’ve developed an excellent reputation in Kelowna and beyond. Our patients know us for our warmth, professionalism, and genuine desire to be a positive force within our community. Whether it’s a simple eye exam or emergency eye care, we continue to put our patients’ needs first.
Providing excellence in eye care in our community and around the world.
We love Kelowna, and as active members of the community, we believe it’s our responsibility to give back. That’s why every year, we choose 3 charities that are important to us, and we give our patients the opportunity to make donations. Of course, no one is ever under any pressure to donate; we just like to foster an atmosphere of giving and generosity.
To quote Dr. Greg Wallace, we think it’s important to “take care of the needs in our own backyard”. We take every opportunity to make a positive impact on our community, whether it's collecting for the food bank, sponsoring local sports teams, or partnering with local aid agencies to provide affordable eye care for those most disadvantaged in our community.
Poor eye health is a world-wide problem and as eye care professionals, we feel it’s our duty to help wherever we can. Our doctors have travelled all over the world participating in eye care missions. We’ve provided eye care to the needy in Morocco, Colombia, Perú, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Myanmar.
Vision is crucial to a child’s development. We offer pediatric eye care and great kid’s glasses. We also support a number of programs designed to promote eye health and care for children.
We believe in giving back to our community both locally and globally, and partner with fantastic organizations to ensure that no one goes without comprehensive eye care and eyewear to meet their needs.
